In a major shift for the music industry, the Grammy Awards will transition from CBS to Disney, beginning in 2027 under a 10-year agreement, per The Hollywood Reporter. This new deal will allow Disney to broadcast the prestigious awards on ABC, Hulu, and Disney+, marking an end to CBS’s five-decade run since 1973, when the Grammys first aired with George Harrison’s *The Concert for Bangladesh* winning Album of the Year.

Disney Entertainment’s co-chairman, Dana Walden, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, noting Disney’s commitment to live events and describing the Grammys as a “crown jewel” addition to their content portfolio. Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, praised Disney’s legacy with creators, viewing the new alliance as a transformative step for the Academy’s mission.

The first year of Disney’s Grammy broadcasts aligns with two other high-profile events hosted by ABC: the 2027 Super Bowl and the Oscars. This transition follows the Grammys’ recent surge in popularity, achieving a viewership of 17.09 million for its 66th ceremony—a 36% increase from the previous year. With the Grammys in its lineup, Disney continues expanding its portfolio of live entertainment, already including the Oscars, NBA Finals, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
